The United States Central Command spokesperson Tim Hawkins stated that a US F-35 stealth fighter jet made an emergency landing at a US Air Force base in the Middle East after carrying out a combat mission over Iran.
According to CNN, Central Command spokesperson Hawkins mentioned that the fifth-generation stealth aircraft was conducting a “combat mission over Iran” when it was forced to make an emergency landing.
“The aircraft landed safely, and the pilot is in stable condition. The incident is currently under investigation,” added Hawkins.
Two sources familiar with the matter informed CNN that a US F-35 fighter jet made an emergency landing at a US Air Force base in the Middle East following what appears to be an attack by Iranian fire.
Both the United States and Israel are employing F-35 fighter jets in joint combat operations against Iran. The cost of these aircraft exceeds $100 million.
