Classmate gathering turns into a feast; Hunan man escapes being drugged and almost falls into a ‘killing pig’ trap

In Hunan, a man was invited to a reunion by a long-lost classmate back in November last year. Little did he know that he would be drugged by his classmate and nearly fell into a carefully planned “trap”, narrowly escaping the ordeal as he left early due to feeling unwell from the effects of the drug. Currently, 5 suspects have been detained by the authorities.

According to a report by Yangtze Evening News on February 15th, in mid-November 2025, Zhang, from Loudi, Hunan, experienced symptoms such as confusion and blurred consciousness after attending a gathering organized by his classmate Lin, suspecting that he had been drugged, he reported the incident to the police.

The police extracted a blood sample from Zhang for testing, confirming the presence of methamphetamine in his system. After reviewing surveillance videos from the gathering place and its vicinity, the police identified 5 suspects led by Lin and Huang.

Investigations revealed that in mid-November 2025, Huang and Lin conspired in Huaihua to profit by using the method of drugging and deceiving victims through gambling scams during gatherings. Lin then used the pretext of reunion to invite old classmate Zhang for dinner in Loudi. During the meal, they took turns persuading Zhang to drink, and when he was off guard, they spiked his drink with methamphetamine. Fortunately, Zhang left early due to the effects of the drug, thus avoiding a disaster.

On February 12th, the 5 criminal suspects were taken into custody.

After the incident was exposed, it sparked attention online. Many netizens lamented, “It’s hard to be cautious enough – fire prevention, theft prevention, even friend prevention, now we have to be wary of classmates.” “Betraying friends.” “Many people have been drugged and tricked into gambling scams, losing their fortunes and accumulating debts.” “Who can we trust in this world besides ourselves?” “Sometimes being solitary may be a good thing, without any friends.”
