The Chinese Communist Party (CCP) has officially announced the dismissal of Sun Weidong from his position as Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs. Sun Weidong has not reached retirement age and his current whereabouts are unknown.

An Lusheng, born in November 1965, has already surpassed the retirement age of 60 for deputy ministerial level officials, while Sun Weidong, born in September 1966, will only reach retirement age in September this year.

Sun Weidong, a native of Xuzhou, Jiangsu Province, has held various positions throughout his career, including as a teacher and deputy director at the Foreign Affairs College, second secretary at the Asian Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, second and first secretary at the Embassy of Malaysia, first secretary, deputy director, and director at the Asian Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, counsellor at the Embassy of India, counselor at the Policy Research Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and deputy director of the Asian Division of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
