Breaking News: Rex Heuermann, the suspect in the Long Island Gilgo Beach call girl serial killings arrested by the police in Manhattan three years ago, is set to plead guilty for the murder of the eighth victim.
According to various sources, on Wednesday (April 8th), Heuermann is expected to confess to the death of the eighth female. The woman, named Karen Vergata, was a 34-year-old call girl from Manhattan who went missing in 1996. Her body was later found dismembered at different locations and time periods, indicating a gruesome post-mortem fate.
Previously, Heuermann was expected to plead guilty to the murders of seven women, but Vergata’s murder will now be included, bringing the total of victims to 8.
Reportedly, Heuermann’s spree of killings took place between 1993 and 2010, and since his arrest in July 2023, he has maintained his innocence.
Prior to Heuermann’s confession, a victim’s son filed a wrongful death lawsuit regarding the case. The lawsuit lists Heuermann, his ex-wife, and daughter as defendants. The plaintiff’s lawyer argues that individuals in the killer’s household could not have been unaware of what was happening in the basement.
However, Heuermann’s daughter’s lawyer countered, stating that the daughter was only 3 years old at the time of the incidents, and trying to pin responsibility on a 3-year-old child is “reckless” and “irresponsible.”
