California lottery ticket worth nearly $200 million goes unclaimed, set to expire

If you are in California and have an unclaimed lottery ticket from December 2023, you may be very lucky, but you must act quickly: a ticket worth nearly $200 million will expire today.

On December 8, 2023, two Mega Millions lottery tickets were sold at the Encino Chevron gas station located at 18081 Ventura Boulevard. Both tickets matched the winning numbers for a $395 million jackpot, to be split between two holders.

The winning numbers are: 21, 26, 53, 66, 70, 13.

However, only one winner came forward in June to claim half of the prize – $197.5 million. The identity of the holder of the other ticket is unknown.

If the prize money is not claimed before the deadline, the money will be used for public schools like other lottery proceeds.

To claim the prize, the winner must present the winning ticket at one of the nine lottery offices across the state and fill out a prize claim form, or fill out the online form and mail it along with the ticket to the lottery headquarters in Sacramento. The envelope must be postmarked by December 7.

The Mega Millions lottery operates in 45 states across the US, Washington D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands.
