Gansu Vice Governor Zhao Jinyun Under Investigation, Number of Central Government Officials Falling from Grace Reaches 50 This Year.

On October 25, 2024, it was reported by Epoch Times that Zhao Jinyun, the 59-year-old Deputy Governor of Gansu Province, has been under investigation less than two years after taking office. Zhao Jinyun previously served as the General Manager of the Readers Publishing Group.

According to the report released by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Supervisory Commission on October 25, Zhao Jinyun is suspected of serious violations of duty and is currently undergoing investigation by the National Supervisory Commission.

Public records show that Zhao Jinyun was born in October 1965 in Minqin, Gansu Province. She holds a postgraduate degree and is a senior economist. In April 1999, she joined the China National Democratic Construction Association. She is also a member of the Central Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association and the Chairwoman of the Gansu Provincial Committee of the China National Democratic Construction Association, concurrently serving as the Chairman of the Eighth Council of the Gansu Provincial Disabled Persons’ Federation and the President of the Gansu Provincial Red Cross Society.

Earlier in her career, Zhao Jinyun worked at the Gansu Provincial Land Management Bureau and the Department of Land and Resources. In 2011, she became the Deputy General Manager (deputy bureau level) of the Gansu Provincial Highway Civil Aviation Tourism Investment Group Co., Ltd., and in September 2015, she was appointed as the Chairman of the Supervisory Board (full bureau level) of the Gansu Provincial Civil Aviation Airport Group Co., Ltd.

From June 2018, Zhao Jinyun served as the General Manager of the Readers Publishing Group Co., Ltd. The Readers Publishing Group Co., Ltd. is a state-owned, privately funded, professional publishing group established in October 2006 on the basis of the original Gansu People’s Publishing House, with the well-known magazine “Reader” as its core product.

In December 2022, Zhao Jinyun was promoted to the position of Deputy Governor of Gansu Province. Before her downfall, she was responsible for civil affairs, work for persons with disabilities, health and sanitation, disease prevention and control, medical security, market supervision and administration, sports, cultural and historical research, and local history development in the Gansu Provincial Government.

With Zhao Jinyun’s downfall, the number of central-level cadres publicly announced for review and investigation by the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection and the National Supervisory Commission has now reached 50 this year.
