On May 9 (Saturday), the “NTD Health Expo”, organized by NTD Television, the Epoch Times, and the renowned biotechnology company Genentech, will be held in Flushing, New York. The event, themed “Understanding Lupus Nephritis, Safeguarding Kidney Health,” will be free and open to the public.
This health expo will feature various medical experts giving on-site lectures, offering insights from different perspectives on kidney diseases and daily healthcare. Dr. Kyriakos A. Kirou, Director of the Lupus Nephritis Program at a specialized surgical hospital, will discuss the pathology and latest treatment advancements in lupus nephritis. Dr. Guo Shengfeng, Chief of Nephrology at New York Presbyterian Queens Hospital, will talk about kidney daily care and prevention strategies. Dr. Miriam Chung, Associate Professor at the Mount Sinai School of Medicine, will share how to detect lupus nephritis early to protect kidney function.
Additionally, Dr. Li Jian, a medical doctor, will explain the key points of dietary control for diabetes patients. Dr. Feng Luoxiaojie, a Doctor of Traditional Chinese Medicine, will introduce key health maintenance practices for kidneys in summer and based on the twelve zodiac signs.
The organizers announced that the event will provide various free health services on-site, including blood pressure and obesity index measurements and physical therapy consultations by New York Presbyterian Hospital. Hospital for Special Surgery (HSS) will offer education on lupus erythematosus. The Wang Jialian Community Medical Center will offer hepatitis B testing consultations. Moreover, there will be podiatry and orthopedic consultations, as well as dental, ophthalmology, dermatology consultations, and Traditional Chinese Medicine experts providing pulse diagnosis, acupuncture, massage, and spine health experiences.
Neurologists and neuro-muscle specialists will provide free consultations, and there will be consultations on low-income benefits, green card and affordable housing applications, as well as medical insurance registration services to help people understand various public resources.
To encourage public participation, there will be a raffle event on the day of the expo, with prizes including Ray-Ban Meta smart glasses, Japanese black ginseng, plant-based fish oil, and wellness products.
The organizers expressed their hope that through this health expo, awareness of chronic diseases like lupus nephritis in the Chinese community will be raised, encouraging people to undergo early screenings, prevent diseases, and safeguard their own health.
