Taiwan Foreign Ministry refutes joint statement by China and Thailand undermining the sovereignty of the Republic of China.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China (Taiwan) today strongly protested and condemned the untrue remarks regarding Taiwan’s sovereignty in the joint statement issued by the Communist Party of China and Thailand.

In a press release issued today, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China pointed out that after Thai Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul met with Xi Jinping in China on the 18th, they issued the “Joint Statement between the Government of the People’s Republic of China and the Government of the Kingdom of Thailand on Envisioning the Prosperity of the China-Thailand Community of Shared Destiny.” The statement falsely claimed that “Taiwan is an inseparable part of the People’s Republic of China and firmly supports the peaceful reunification of China, and does not support any form of ‘Taiwan independence,'” and stated that Thailand “supports China’s ‘One Country, Two Systems’ policy.”

“The related content of the joint statement issued by the Communist Party of China and Thailand seriously deviates from the facts,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China strongly protested and condemned the Communist government’s repeated dissemination of untrue statements that undermine Taiwan’s sovereignty, and expressed disappointment and regret over the Thai government’s disregard for the facts and compliance with the Communist Party in belittling Taiwan’s sovereignty status.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of China reiterated that Taiwan is a sovereign independent country and is not subordinate to the People’s Republic of China. The Republic of China will not tolerate the Communist Party repeatedly spreading false statements through bilateral statements in an attempt to unilaterally change the status quo through cognitive warfare.

The Ministry pointed out that “Taiwan and Thailand have close trade and personnel exchanges. We urge Thailand to cherish the long-standing friendship between the two countries and not to continue to cooperate with the Communist Party in suppression. Otherwise, including Thailand itself, it will ultimately become a victim of the Communist Party’s destruction of regional peace and stability.”
