Tokyo Keisuke fulfills special ramen request, IU laughs: “I also benefit”

On the evening of the 13th, popular South Korean singer IU (Lee Ji-eun) released the latest episode of her YouTube channel show “IU’s Palette,” with EXO member D.O. as the guest. During the show, D.O. was asked, “If your wish would definitely come true, what wish would you make?” His unexpected answer provoked laughter from IU and the staff on set.

The last time “IU’s Palette” was aired was in September last year, featuring Kang Daniel and BTS V (Kim Taehyung) as guests. IU mentioned at the beginning of the show that it had been a while since she last recorded the program, as she had been busy with acting, releasing a new album, and holding concerts. Initially considering postponing the show, she decided to restart “IU’s Palette” when her favorite singer, D.O., released a new album.

IU mentioned that one of D.O.’s songs was a “life song” for her, and D.O. acknowledged hearing about it. In a radio show back in 2020, IU spoke about how rare it was for her to feel comfort or shed tears through music since her trainee days, but listening to “That’s Okay” made her cry at night and truly comforted her.

In “IU’s Palette,” both IU and the guest choose a song from each other to perform. IU revealed that she considered singing “That’s Okay” but realized it was a difficult song, so she chose a different one in the end.

When D.O. talked about his new album “BLOSSOM,” he described it as an album that symbolizes hope for continued growth in the future. The lyrics focus on themes of “growth,” aiming to bring happiness and comfort to listeners.

D.O. expressed his love for the word “resonance” and how finding comfort in it brings him joy, which is his motivation for singing. He sang his new song “Mars” and mentioned that his favorite track on the album is “Popcorn.”

Upon learning that D.O. was in the process of recruiting official fans, IU came up with nine suggestions for official fan club names for D.O. Every time IU shared a suggestion, D.O. and the accompanying staff burst into laughter, making IU a bit flustered. She quickly mentioned her preferred choice, “DoReMi,” to which D.O. jokingly replied, “That’s the best one so far.”

When IU mentioned D.O.’s famous “bald-headed photocard” from an EXO album, she suggested they try some self-made selfie poses on the show. As IU mimicked biting her pinky finger, D.O. reacted with a surprised “Ah~,” triggering laughter from those present. IU then suggested some “ending pose” ideas for D.O. to use on music shows, causing D.O. to feel a bit flustered once again, to which IU humorously said, “You want to go home, don’t you?”

IU chose to perform D.O.’s song “I Do,” while D.O. picked IU’s latest album track “Love Wins All.” After the performances, IU was pleasantly surprised by how earnestly and warmly D.O. had performed. She complimented his cover of “Love Wins All” and jokingly asked if she could also do justice to “I Do.” D.O. playfully agreed the song should be sung by IU and humorously said, “Please take it,” to which IU laughed and replied, “But you can’t just give it away!”

IU joked about whether they should split the copyright ownership of their songs so they could perform each other’s songs elsewhere.

Knowing D.O.’s love for animation, IU prepared a series of questions that he must choose from, including selecting the best animated film among “Moana,” “Coco,” and “My Neighbor Totoro.” D.O. struggled to choose but eventually settled on “My Neighbor Totoro.”

When asked to choose a live-action movie where he would be the lead from “Slam Dunk,” “Elemental,” “The Prince of Tennis,” and “Naruto,” D.O. confidently chose “Elemental” because he felt that playing the lead in the other three would require a lot of physical exertion involved in playing basketball or tennis and performing shadow clones. His response elicited laughter from IU and the staff.

In the final segment, IU asked D.O., “What awaits you at the end of growth? What do you hope is waiting for you?” D.O. responded, “I hope things stay the same as they are now. I think preserving the current state is the most challenging, so I hope for things to remain as they are.” IU remarked, “It seems like you’re very content with your current life!” to which D.O. replied, “Absolutely.”

When asked what wish he would make if a shooting star shower guaranteed it would come true, D.O., a lover of cooking, humorously replied, “I wish instant noodles were the healthiest food in the world.” IU burst into laughter, but D.O. continued seriously, stating that even if he ate instant noodles for every meal, it would be extremely healthy and fantastic.

Playing along, IU joked, “If I tell my mom today that I eat instant noodles three times a day, she would praise me, ‘Good job, my child, well done!’ If you make that wish, I’d benefit too.” When questioned about his favorite instant noodles, D.O. confidently declared “Spicy Jin Ramen” as his choice, prompting IU to remark that D.O.’s resolute answer during the three-hour recording was the most decisive.

Lastly, D.O. humorously complied with IU’s request to imitate the pinky-biting pose with her. He expressed how happy being on the show made him and hoped that the viewers watching would also laugh and feel happy.
