At least 3 dead in Zhuhai residential building collapse suspected to be caused by gas explosion

On August 6th, an explosion occurred in a two-story residential building in Niwan Village, Jing’an Town, Doumen District, Zhuhai City, Guangdong Province, resulting in the deaths of three individuals and one person sustaining injuries.

The Emergency Management Bureau of Doumen District in Zhuhai City reported on August 7th that around 4:50 PM on the 6th, the two-story residential building in Niwan Village, Jing’an Town, Doumen District collapsed. CCTV footage revealed that there was a suspected explosion inside the wall of the residential building, with flames and a loud noise erupting from within the wall, causing it to rupture and leading to the collapse of the building. A large amount of dust and debris was kicked up, turning the building into rubble once the dust settled.

Videos uploaded by local residents showed that after the explosion, many people rushed to the scene to help with rescue efforts, followed by medical personnel arriving at the site.

Authorities have preliminarily determined that the collapse of the residential building was caused by a gas explosion, trapping four individuals, three of whom died while one sustained minor injuries.
