New York overseas Chinese community celebrates National Day and Double Tenth Day with flag-raising parade on October 10th in Chinatown.

To celebrate the 115th Double Tenth National Day of the Republic of China, the New York overseas Chinese community will hold a series of activities in Manhattan’s Chinatown on October 10th, including flag-raising, flower-laying, celebratory ceremonies, and a National Day parade, followed by a gala dinner in the evening. Representatives from Chinatown, Flushing, and New Jersey held the second preparatory meeting at the Chinese Consulate on September 29th, finalizing the event schedule and arrangements.

On October 10th at 1:30 PM, the Double Tenth National Day flag-raising ceremony will take place in front of the Chinese Consulate. Following the ceremony, representatives will proceed to Columbus Park to lay flowers at the statue of the founding father, Mr. Sun Yat-sen. At 2 PM, the Double Tenth National Day celebration ceremony will be held at the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall in the Chinese Consulate.

The National Day parade is scheduled to start at 4:30 PM, with various overseas Chinese groups participating in the procession. Following the parade, the National Day gala dinner will be held at 6 PM at East Harbor Seafood Palace and Jing Fong Restaurant in Chinatown.

In addition to the main events on October 10th, the Chinese Consulate will also organize six Double Tenth National Day cultural performances this year. Details of the dates, times, and programs for each performance can be found on the Chinese Consulate’s bulletin board or information released by the performing groups.

During the preparatory meeting, participating organizations and community leaders were allocated specific tasks for the activities. The president of the Chinese Consulate, Wu Rui-xian, will preside over the flag-bestowing ceremony, awarding the Chinese Consulate flag to the leader of the delegation attending this year’s Double Tenth National Day activities in Taiwan. The delegation will travel to Taipei to participate in related National Day events.
