The World Chinese Business Women’s Association Northern California Chapter held its 14th Annual Meeting and Inauguration Ceremony in Cupertino on February 20 (last Friday), attracting nearly 120 members, overseas Chinese individuals, and elected officials. The atmosphere at the event was warm and lively.
Representatives from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in San Francisco including Director Wu Chih-hsiang, Unit Chief Guo Hui-chen, as well as Director of the Taiwan Trade Center Liu Mei-chih, Deputy Director of the South Bay Overseas Chinese Education Center Tsai Chia-hua, Overseas Compatriot Affairs Commission members Wei De-zhen, Wu Yi-ming and others were present to extend their congratulations. Cupertino Vice Mayor Zhao Liang-fang, Fremont City Council members Shao Yang and Huang Jie-yi, former Mayor Richard Lowenthal, Union City Council member Wang Yao-ming, and 14th Congressional District candidate Huang Wen-tzu also attended to witness the swearing-in of the new executive officers and directors.
The ceremony, commenced by 13th and 14th Chapter Chairwoman Luo Qianru striking the Sino-Women Association bell, officially began with the rendition of the American national anthem, the Republic of China national anthem, and the Sino-Women Association anthem. In her address, Luo expressed her gratitude for being re-elected as chairwoman and pledged to continue the achievements, enhance shortcomings, and further develop the association’s presence in Northern California while expanding international connections.
She revealed to Dajiyuan that the chapter actively facilitated global networking and corporate collaborations last year and plans to deepen these efforts this year. The chapter will continue to engage in blood donation drives and charity events to demonstrate social responsibility.
Luo also disclosed that the chapter will host the “Love Without Barriers” charity concert on April 19, inviting a Taiwanese cerebral palsy art group to interact with special needs children in Northern California, expanding support platforms through international cooperation.
Director Wu Chih-hsiang commended the association’s action and execution capabilities in his speech and congratulated Luo Qianru on her reelection. President Lin Shu-min sent her congratulations through a video, praising the steady growth of the Northern California chapter and emphasizing the association’s role as a platform for both business exchanges and female public welfare initiatives.
Deputy Director Tsai Chia-hua represented the Overseas Community Affairs Council and South Bay Overseas Chinese Education Center Director Chuang Ya-shu in expressing their congratulations to Luo Qianru for her reelection, acknowledging the chapter’s contributions in economics, community service, and social engagement. They also read a congratulatory letter from Overseas Community Affairs Council Chairperson Hsu Chia-ching. Director Wu Chih-hsiang also presented a commendation letter to reelected Chairwoman Luo Qianru.
First Vice President and Executive Adviser to the Executive Yuan of the Republic of China Chen Ling-hua personally attended to drape a sash on Luo Qianru and present a monetary gift. She mentioned that the Northern California chapter is the 41st sub-chapter of the association, showcasing outstanding long-term performance and significant intergenerational achievements. Chen praised the chapter’s active recruitment of members, enhancement of chapter influence, encouraged continued participation in association activities, talent cultivation, and recommendation of candidates for the Chinese Crown Awards.
During the ceremony, the 14th Board of Supervisors and Chairwoman Luo Qianru completed their swearing-in ceremony, officiated by Executive Director Wei De-zhen, who also issued the election certificates.
Following that, Luo Qianru presented advisory appointments to Wu Yi-ming and Lin Mei-lian, and Deputy International Secretary-General Lan Chia-hsin led the new members in taking their oath of membership.
In the ceremony, founding Chairwoman Wu Yu-ping introduced each former chairperson, including Wei De-zhen, Lan Chia-hsin, Hu Wei-ni, Kao Chun-hui, and current chairwoman Luo Qianru. Finally, the inauguration ceremony concluded with the ringing of Luo Qianru’s closing bell.
