Recently, in Feng County, Xuzhou City, Jiangsu Province, a girl at a kindergarten was reportedly scalded on the lips with a hot glue stick by a teacher and subjected to physical punishment. Surveillance footage showed multiple children lining up in the classroom for punishment. After the incident, a video circulating on the internet revealed that the girl’s mother was taken away by the police during a live broadcast.
According to mainland Chinese media reports on May 29th, Ms. Zhou, the parent of the girl, recently posted on social media asserting that her daughter was abused by a teacher during her time at the Second Kindergarten of Feng County Government.
Ms. Zhou stated that the incident began when her child came home from school with severe blisters on her lips that eventually burst and started oozing pus. When she inquired with the teacher about the cause, she was initially told that the child injured herself, but later the teacher changed the story claiming it was accidentally burned. After reporting to the police and reviewing surveillance footage, she discovered that the child had been repeatedly scalded on the lips with a hot glue stick by the teacher, along with being pushed and hit.
Surveillance footage showed multiple children in the classroom lining up for punishment. The teacher in question held the child’s mouth and used the hot glue stick to burn their lips and palms, causing the crying children to be in pain. Other teachers were present in the classroom at the time of the incident but did not intervene.
Upon receiving a verification call, the kindergarten principal directly hung up.
On May 29th, the Education Bureau of Feng County confirmed the incident and stated that an investigation team had been established, the police had initiated an investigation, and the teacher involved had been suspended from duty.
Related videos have been circulating on the internet. Information circulating on overseas social media platform X indicated that the mother of the injured girl in the Feng County hot glue incident was taken away by the police during a live broadcast, and her rights protection video was subsequently deleted.
According to content posted by the Weibo video account “Xiao Li Helps” on May 30th, some children at the kindergarten exhibited visible signs of fear upon seeing the teacher. The video also mentioned that the children seemed to have been threatened by the teacher: “If you speak up, I’ll cut off your tongue with scissors.” “I’ll seal your mouth shut with a hot glue gun.” “If you dare tell your parents, the police will take your parents, grandparents away.”
The incident has garnered attention from the public online.
