During the “National Day” holiday, two horses in Suzhou “escaped” and ran wildly on urban roads. The next day, the person in charge of the horse stable responded, saying that the horses broke free from their ropes and ran away. It took three cars from the stable three hours to catch them back, fortunately no pedestrians were harmed.
On the evening of October 1st, several videos taken by Suzhou residents spread on social media. The videos showed the two horses galloping on several urban roads, elevated expressways, and tunnels in Suzhou’s Xiangcheng District.
Netizens commented: “Look! There are horses running on the overpass!” “How come there are horses in the tunnel?” “Where are they trying to go?”
Some netizens joked, “Are the horses planning to go to Suzhou North Railway Station to take the high-speed rail for a trip?”
There are also concerns that if the horses suddenly change lanes, it could easily lead to motor vehicles being unable to evade in time, causing serious traffic accidents such as rear-end collisions.
According to the mainland media “Yangtze Evening News” report, on October 2nd, Mr. Li, the person in charge of the horse stable, said in an interview that the two horses that ran away were not owned by the stable, but were brought by friends during the holiday to experience horseback riding here. In the evening of October 1st, the staff tied the horses with ropes on the lawn to graze, but the two horses broke free from the ropes and ran away.
Mr. Li said that after discovering that the horses were missing, the staff searched for an hour but found nothing. Later, several friends provided clues about the horses appearing in the tunnel, on the overpass, and on the Xiangcheng urban roads. After determining the direction the horses were moving in, Mr. Li and his friends drove along the route to search. It took three hours with three cars in pursuit, and eventually the horses were caught near Suzhou North Railway Station.
He said that the horses eventually got tired and stopped near Suzhou North Railway Station. Fortunately, the horses did not encounter people or vehicles, no injuries were caused, and no vehicles were damaged.
