On July 4th (Saturday), it was a great day as the United States celebrated its 250th anniversary of independence. Secretary of State Rubio released a captivating video lasting approximately 3 minutes to showcase America’s illustrious history to the world.
Rubio took to the social media platform X on Saturday to post, “For 250 years, the United States has been the greatest country on earth – by God’s grace, it will continue to be so for the next 250 years. Happy Independence Day to all!”
The Secretary of State also attached a nearly 3-minute video. In the video, he reflected on how 250 years ago, a small group of people gathered in Philadelphia to declare war on the mightiest empire of the time. Many of them lost everything during the War of Independence. Their homes were burned, their lands plundered, and every penny they owned was invested in the struggle for freedom.
“But it was a price each of them was willing to pay – they were willing to pay such a price for us, for me, for you,” said Rubio. “Because they understood a truth that free people have always recognized: some things are more precious than wealth, more valuable than security; and some great causes are even more important than life itself.”
“Our founding fathers understood that freedom is not an abstract concept hanging upon the pages of history. They also knew that mere promises written on parchment cannot truly grant a nation its freedom. The Soviet Constitution once promised many freedoms but never intended to fulfill them. Many failed states and authoritarian regimes have also resorted to the terms ‘rights’ and ‘freedom’, yet the strength of a constitution depends on the people it serves,” Rubio remarked.
“The United States is an exceptional nation because the American people are an exceptional nation,” stated the Secretary of State. “The individuals who constructed our nation are heroes – some of the greatest and most noble heroes in world history.”
