Former vice president of China First Heavy Industries Group Co., Ltd., Lu Wenjun, was sentenced to 15 years in prison for accepting bribes totaling over 67.98 million yuan (RMB). Lu Wenjun was investigated while in office in May of last year.
On August 10th, the Xiangtan Intermediate People’s Court in Hunan province publicly announced the first-instance verdict of the bribery case of Lu Wenjun, former member of the Party Committee and vice president of China First Heavy Industries Group Co., Ltd. He was sentenced to 15 years in prison for bribery and fined 5 million yuan.
The court stated that from 2002 to 2022, Lu Wenjun, using his positions as general manager and chairman of China Heavy Machinery, general manager and chairman of China Second Heavy, and vice president of China First Heavy, provided assistance to companies and individuals in business contracting and commission payments, and illegally accepted a total of over 67.98 million yuan.
Public records show that Lu Wenjun, born in August 1967 in Jiaxing, Zhejiang Province, graduated with a major in electrical engineering from Harbin Institute of Technology. He has worked in the Chinese heavy machinery industry for over 30 years.
In 1990, Lu Wenjun joined China Heavy Machinery Company as a cadre in the mining equipment department, and in 2000, he was promoted to the position of general manager.
Over the next decade, Lu Wenjun successively held key positions in several state-owned enterprises, including China Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd., China Second Heavy Machinery Group Co., Ltd., and National Machinery Equipment Group Corporation.
At the end of 2019, Lu Wenjun was appointed vice president and member of the Party Committee of China First Heavy Industries Group Co., Ltd., and also served as the general manager of China First Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd. In April 2022, Su Bingli, the former chairman of China First Heavy Machinery Co., Ltd., resigned, and Lu Wenjun took over as chairman until he was investigated in May of the previous year.
In October 2025, Lu Wenjun was expelled from the Party and transferred to judicial authorities. On May 9th of this year, the Xiangtan Intermediate People’s Court held a public hearing for the case.
