In the 2026 World Cup, the Argentina team fought till the end but unfortunately failed to lift the coveted World Cup trophy, leaving star player Lionel Messi devastated. His supportive wife, Antonela Roccuzzo, took to social media on Monday, July 20th, to express her love and admiration for him, saying, “You are always the best.”
Roccuzzo and Messi have three children together. She posted a photo on Instagram depicting the 39-year-old Messi in tears on the pitch after Argentina’s defeat to Spain in the final on July 19.
In her heartfelt post, the 38-year-old Roccuzzo wrote in Spanish, “You are always the best. Not just because of your talent, but because you always stay true to yourself. No matter what happens, you never give up, fighting until the last moment, giving your all until the final second.”
“It’s this resilience, this mindset, and your spirit to rise again and again that make you unique,” she said. “Thank you for teaching us every day that true success comes from hard work, sacrifice, perseverance, and never losing your essence. You are the best example for our children and inspire millions of people.”
In a touching declaration of love, she expressed, “My admiration for you is beyond words, and I am incredibly proud to walk through life by your side. I love you deeply.”
Messi, in his post-match Instagram statement, acknowledged the immense pain in his heart that will take time to heal. Yet, he also vowed to cherish all the beautiful memories and highlighted that every game they fought their hardest will forever remain in their memories.
Throughout the World Cup tournament, Roccuzzo stood by Messi, capturing moments of the whole family supporting the Argentina team. The long-time partners, who have known each other since their childhood in Rosario, Argentina, tied the knot in their hometown on June 30, 2017.
In 2019, when asked by the Spanish newspaper Marca about the qualities in his wife that he admires the most, Messi simply replied that he appreciates “everything” about her.
