Zhejiang Elevated Highway Drama: Unmanned Motorcycle Drives for Several Kilometers

On July 14th, a remarkable incident unfolded on the elevated highway in Huzhou, Zhejiang Province, as a Zhang Xue 820RR motorcycle continued to travel for several kilometers without a rider after the owner fell off, sparking discussions across the internet.

In the afternoon of the 14th, a netizen posted a 1 minute and 22-second video on social media, revealing a startling scene on the Huzhou elevated bridge: a motorcycle was in motion without anyone on it…

The netizen and friends were driving on the Huzhou elevated bridge at the time, and in the video, they mentioned feeling puzzled by the sight of the riderless motorcycle. “What is going on? Is it self-driving?” “Where is the owner? Did they fall off?”

The video footage displayed the motorcycle initially traveling along the right side of the barrier without the owner present, continuing forward as it gradually shifted to the driving lane, causing other vehicles to swerve to avoid it.

Subsequently, the motorcycle veered from right to left towards the center barrier of the bridge, where it collided but did not fall. Instead, it continued moving towards the right lane…

Many netizens speculated that the motorcycle could be the Zhang Xue 820RR. The peculiar sight of the Zhang Xue 820RR motorcycle cruising along the Zhejiang highway without a rider left many netizens baffled.

The bizarre incident on the Huzhou elevated bridge involving the internet-famous high-performance motorcycle “820RR” has garnered significant attention. Numerous netizens believe that this riderless motorcycle speeding along the elevated highway may have ejected its owner.

A Weibo member, certified as an automotive expert and popular blogger with 1.384 million followers, “Sun Shaojun 09,” shared that the rider fell off the motorcycle at the entrance of the elevated highway, leading to separation between the rider and the motorcycle. The motorcycle then traveled around four to five kilometers on its own.

Another Weibo member, “Wen Dao Ban Xia Shuo,” expressed that there is no such thing as autonomous driving; it is highly likely that the owner separated from the motorcycle after an accidental fall. However, the motorcycle’s built-in balance gyroscope and high-displacement idling characteristics enabled it to maintain equilibrium and continue moving without human control.

Commenting on the incident, “Huzhou city center prohibits motorcycles at all times, and the elevated highway is off-limits. The fact that the motorcycle was able to travel without falling for four to five kilometers is fortunate from a safety perspective. If the traffic had been denser or moving faster at that time, the consequences could have been unimaginable.”

In March of this year, Wenzhou traffic police announced a ban on motorcycles on the elevated highway throughout the day.

At 8:30 pm on July 14th, Chongqing Zhang Xue Motorcycle Industrial Co., Ltd. shared the aforementioned netizen’s video on their social media account, expressing concern for the owner’s safety and urgently attempting to locate the owner.

Around 9 pm, the same account indicated in the comments section that they had contacted the owner, who had suffered a fractured bone and was currently in the hospital, with no other serious injuries.

According to Shandong Business News, the 820RR is a high-performance motorcycle released by Zhang Xue Motorcycle on March 21, 2026, equipped with an 819cc inline three-cylinder liquid-cooled engine producing a maximum horsepower of 135.

On April 22, 2026, Zhang Xue Motorcycle issued a recall for the 820RR due to assembly issues with certain parts.

Elephant News reported on July 15th that the local traffic police department in Huzhou stated that they are investigating the incident.
