“Online Community ‘Tianya’ Relaunched, First Day Met with Controversy”

On the first day of its reboot, the well-known Chinese internet forum, Tianya Community, crashed and the webpage could not be accessed.

After a three-year hiatus, Tianya Community announced the official use of the tianya.net domain starting from June 1, 2026, to gradually restore access to Tianya Community’s data. Many netizens visited Tianya Community on that day only to find that the webpage couldn’t be loaded.

According to a report by Red Star News, Tianya’s customer service responded that the new Tianya Community website had just been restarted, resulting in a sharp increase in login numbers, causing some lag, and advised users to try again later.

The topic of “Tianya Community crashing on its first day of reboot” skyrocketed to the hot search list on June 1, sparking discussions among users.

“Baidu netizen 6868914” commented: “After three years of preparation, I still can’t get in today… it’s ridiculous.”

“Xu Yining rR” remarked: “The reboot is just a way to cash in on emotions, it probably crashed again.”

According to an official statement released on Tianya Community’s Weibo regarding the progress of regaining access to the forum, Tianya Community had suspended access since April 1, 2023, due to telecommunications IDC arrears.

On that day, Tianya Community announced that technical upgrades and data reconstruction were to be carried out, and during this period, the platform would be inaccessible.

On February 26, 2024, on the eve of its 25th anniversary, Tianya Community was under bankruptcy review.

At that time, the company had multiple instances of debtor information, as well as various restrictions on consumption orders and frozen equities. The company was involved in hundreds of cases, including disputes over honor rights and infringement of work information network dissemination rights.

Established in April 1999, Tianya Community had a registered capital of 93 million yuan, jointly held by Xing Ming, Hainan Davy Internet Investment Management Co., Ltd., Dazi Yanyue Management Consulting Co., Ltd., among others. Tianya Community was once the largest network platform in mainland China, with over 130 million registered users and a monthly user coverage of over 250 million, as introduced by Baidu Baike.

On May 4, 2015, Tianya announced the “Equity Transfer Statement” and “Financial Statements and Audit Report,” declaring its listing on the New Third Board.

In August 2015, Tianya Community was listed on the New Third Board, with a market value reaching 1 billion yuan. However, due to relevant laws and regulations, Tianya Community had to go through the declaration and approval procedures again. Starting from December 30, 2016, Tianya Community was halted from trading. The board approved the delisting proposal on April 8, 2018, and officially delisted from the New Third Board on April 17, 2019.
