The former general manager of China National Nuclear Corporation (referred to as CNNC) Gu Jun has been expelled from the party, stripped of benefits, and transferred to judicial authorities. In January of this year, Gu Jun was investigated and became the third senior official to be officially removed from office this year.
On July 25, the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection of the Communist Party of China and the National Supervisory Commission issued the above notification.
According to the notification, Gu Jun resisted organizational review, engaged in superstitious activities, accepted gifts in violation of regulations, accepted banquets and travel arrangements improperly, sought benefits for others in the recruitment of workers, engaged in trade-offs of power and sex, and used public power as a tool to seek personal gain. He extensively solicited and collected money, used his position for the benefit of others in project contracting, equipment procurement, fund disbursement, and illegally accepted large sums of money.
On January 19 of this year, Gu Jun was officially investigated, less than two years after leaving his position.
Public records show that Gu Jun was born in June 1963 in Qidong, Jiangsu Province, and graduated from the Shanghai Jiaotong University with a major in nuclear power engineering.
Gu Jun was one of the first reactor operators at the first nuclear power plant on the Chinese mainland and has held positions such as Deputy Chief Engineer and Deputy General Manager of Qinshan Nuclear Power Co., Ltd.; General Manager and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of Sanmen Nuclear Power Co., Ltd.; Director, General Manager, and Party Committee Member of the National Nuclear Technology Co., Ltd.; Director, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, and General Manager of China Nuclear Industry Construction Corporation (CNNC) and Chairman of CNNC.
In July 2018, after the restructuring of CNNC and CNNC Construction Corporation, Gu Jun served as a Director, General Manager, and Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of CNNC until he stepped down in February 2024.
CNNC is mainly engaged in nuclear military industries, nuclear power, nuclear fuel, and nuclear application technology businesses, and is a large state-owned enterprise of the Communist Party focusing on military industries. It was formerly known as the Second Machinery Industry Department of the Communist Party, the Ministry of Nuclear Industry, and the China National Nuclear Corporation.
