Concert Stage Screen Malfunction, Eason Chan Halts Performance on the Spot

On the evening of October 1st, mainland Chinese singer Xue Zhiqian kicked off the first show of his “King of the Beasts” tour in Chengdu. However, shortly after the performance began, two large screens on the stage suddenly went black or experienced glitches, prompting Xue Zhiqian to halt the show. He sternly urged for the prompt repair of the technical issues on stage and warned the hardware team that there would be no second chances.

Videos from the scene showed that shortly after the start of the show, the two large screens suddenly went black or malfunctioned, severely impacting the viewing experience of the audience in the distant areas. Xue Zhiqian chose not to continue singing despite the technical difficulties, instead pausing the performance, pacing on stage, shaking his head, and repeatedly asking the staff, “Is it fixed?”

During the waiting period, Xue Zhiqian specifically allowed the dancers portraying animals to take a break, rather than have the entire team wait on stage. The issue was swiftly repaired within about two minutes. After the performance resumed, Xue Zhiqian looked serious and sternly warned the hardware team, “I’ll say it again, there is no next time.”

Due to the delay caused by the screen repair, Xue Zhiqian immediately continued his hardcore tradition of compensating fans whenever there are equipment issues by arranging for additional songs to be performed for the audience in Chengdu, eliciting cheers from the fans in the audience.

According to a report by “Sina.com,” the hardware team involved pointed fingers at a lighting and sound company in Shanghai. As of now, no official statement has been released regarding changing the team, and any adjustments in the future will depend on their rectification efforts.

Some fans mentioned that audience members in the distant and rear sections of the stadium mainly rely on the large screens to see the stage details. Xue Zhiqian’s decision not to compromise and insisting on fixing the issue before continuing showed his dedication to ensuring that fans who traveled especially to see the show didn’t have a diminished experience.

Fans applauded Xue Zhiqian’s handling of the situation on stage, praising his stern inquiries about the progress and warning the hardware team, “There is no next time,” while also showing empathy by allowing the dancers dressed in heavy costumes and portraying animals to take a break.

Combining this incident with Xue Zhiqian’s previous act of refunding tickets in full and covering travel and accommodation expenses for fans due to equipment malfunctions during a torrential rain in Guangzhou, many fans believe that Xue Zhiqian holds exceptionally high standards for human-controllable errors and stage presentation. He is seen as a genuine singer in the Chinese music industry who does not deceive the audience.
