3.7-Magnitude Earthquake Hits Beichuan County, Sichuan Province, with Strong Tremors Felt in Chengdu and Chongqing.

On December 17th at noon, a 3.7-magnitude shallow earthquake struck Beichuan County in Sichuan Province, China, causing noticeable tremors in the areas of Chengdu, Chongqing, Jiangyou, and Nanchong.

According to the China Earthquake Networks Center, the earthquake occurred at a depth of 11 kilometers in Beichuan County, Mianyang City at 12:24 on December 17th, 2025 (latitude 32.04 degrees north, longitude 104.56 degrees east). As of now, there have been no reports of casualties.

Villages within a 5-kilometer radius of the epicenter include Youshang, Chenjiayuanzi, Duguan Township, Duomushu, Xinfangzi, Zaojiao Tree, Madi Ping, Shenjiawan, Dadiping, and Zhuba Village. Townships within a 20-kilometer radius include Doukou Qiangzu Township, Guixi Town, Pingtong Qiangzu Township, Chenjiaba Town, Suojiang Qiangzu Township, Baini Township, and Xuanping Township.

The epicenter is 34 kilometers from Jiangyou City, 41 kilometers from Pingwu County, 48 kilometers from Beichuan Qiang Autonomous County, 56 kilometers from Anzhou District, 66 kilometers from Youxian District, 65 kilometers from Mianyang City, and 161 kilometers from Chengdu City.
