Dwayne Johnson Sings for Terminally Ill 4-Year-Old Fan, Heartwarming Gesture Receives Praise

Hollywood action star Dwayne Johnson, who voiced the character Maui in the animated movie “Moana,” recently fulfilled the dying wish of a 4-year-old fan by singing the film’s end credits song “You’re Welcome” on Instagram. The heartwarming gesture received widespread praise from netizens.

In a 7-minute video shared on July 1st, Johnson revealed that a young girl named Lily is currently receiving end-of-life care at home, and her parents conveyed her final wish to him. Lily’s parents disclosed that she adored “Moana” and would watch it repeatedly every day, hoping that Johnson could sing the movie song “You’re Welcome” in Maui’s voice for her.

Upon learning about Lily’s request, Johnson personally recorded a 7-minute video for her. In addition to singing the song, he also offered words of encouragement to Lily in the video, telling her, “You are a special presence,” and urged fans to share the video to empower Lily.

Before starting to sing, Johnson told Lily, “It’s my honor to sing for you, I love you!”

The video garnered over 670,000 likes, with netizens leaving messages cheering Lily on and praising Johnson for helping make the young girl’s wish come true, saying, “Thank you for fulfilling this little girl’s wish” and “You make this world a better place.”

At 52 years old, Johnson began his professional wrestling career at the age of 26 and won numerous league championship belts. He later transitioned to the film industry at the peak of his life. Some of his notable works include “G.I. Joe: Retaliation,” “Fast & Furious,” among other sci-fi action films, establishing a tough guy image that resonates with the audience.

According to “FACTS-MANIA,” as of 2023, Johnson ranked as the 5th highest-earning male star in Hollywood. The top 4 spots were held by Tom Cruise, Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Brad Pitt, respectively.

It has been 8 years since the release of the original animated movie “Moana,” and Disney announced last year that it would be adapted into a live-action film. Johnson confirmed on a show that his upcoming movie is the live-action version of “Moana,” where he will reprise his voice role as the Polynesian demigod Maui and even sang the classic song “You’re Welcome” on the spot from the film.
