The United States Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), also known as the Immigration Office, announced in the Federal Register on Wednesday, September 30, that there will be an increase in certain immigration fees related to the H.R. 1 Act for the fiscal year 2027. These fee adjustments, which are relatively small, aim to reflect the inflation from July 2025 to July 2026.
The fees involved are additional fees for immigration and asylum applications added or adjusted by the Immigration Office based on the H.R. 1 Act, also known as the “Big and Beautiful Act”.
On July 22, 2025, the Immigration Office announced in the Federal Register the implementation of the immigration-related fees as mandated in the H.R. 1 Act. These fees will be effective starting from the 2026 fiscal year and will continue to be implemented in subsequent fiscal years. The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) will adjust the relevant fees based on the inflation rate as per the provisions of the H.R. 1 Act.
The new fee standards adjusted for inflation will come into effect on October 16, 2026.
If an applicant submits their application on or after October 16, 2026 (based on the postmark), and the category they are applying for requires these fees, they must pay according to the new fee standards for their category. Failure to pay the correct fees will result in the application being rejected.
