A doctor at the Red Rock Campus of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine was stabbed by a patient. The suspect is a colon cancer patient who deliberately sought revenge due to dissatisfaction with the treatment results. The attacked physician in the colorectal department was not the suspect’s primary doctor and had no medical interactions with him. They became the target of the patient’s anger merely by coincidence of being on duty.
Recently, several netizens reported an incident of a doctor being injured at the Red Rock Campus of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine. An angry colon cancer patient, dissatisfied with the treatment results, concealed a weapon in a flag and brought it into the hospital. Unable to find the specialist he was looking for, he then attempted to attack a doctor in an adjacent department. The injured doctor was an inpatient physician in the colorectal department of the hospital, and due to mobility issues, could not evade the sudden attack in time.
According to reports from an internal source at the hospital on September 5, the doctor indeed sustained multiple stab wounds and is currently fighting for their life in the ICU. The Health Commission of Guiyang City confirmed the incident by stating, “This incident did occur.”
A Weibo user with 427,000 followers, “Talk Now,” posted that the injured doctor, who suffers from the sequelae of polio and has mobility issues, was unable to evade the attack in time. The doctor suffered multiple stab wounds, leading to hemorrhagic shock, and as of the evening of September 5, was still undergoing treatment.
In a report by the “Modern Express” newspaper, it was mentioned that in the hospital’s official WeChat account post on September 4 morning, regarding expert consultation schedules, the doctor in question was still listed as part of the normal duty roster. Currently, the hospital has removed the doctor’s information from expert outpatient services and related introduction, and appointments in the colorectal department are unavailable until September 20.
In the early hours of September 6, the Nanning Branch of the Public Security Bureau in Guiyang, Guizhou Province issued a police report stating that on September 4 at around 9 a.m., a criminal incident occurred at the Red Rock Campus of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Guizhou University of Traditional Chinese Medicine, resulting in one person being injured. The victim has been hospitalized and is in stable condition. The criminal suspect, Hu, has been criminally detained by the police.
This incident has sparked widespread attention on social media, with netizens expressing various opinions.
