Charlene Choi Reveals Food Poisoning, Loses Weight to New Low After One Week of Diarrhea

Hong Kong actress and social media star Sheren Tang, known for her frequent visits to popular restaurants with friends, revealed on her Instagram story on September 27th that she has been suffering from food poisoning and experiencing continuous diarrhea for a week. The 165cm tall actress shared a photo of her weight scale displaying a new low of 98.4 pounds (approximately 44.6 kilograms), sparking shock and concern among her fans and followers.

In the IG post, Tang tearfully described her struggle with food poisoning and how it has led to her weight dropping to an alarming level. At her height of 165cm, falling below 100 pounds indicates a serious health condition, as many of her fans worriedly commented on the post.

Known as a food enthusiast, Sheren Tang is often seen exploring new restaurants and street food stalls. During the filming of “News Queen” in Central, she discovered a ramen shop and recommended mixing the yuzu sauce with the broth to her followers. In March of this year, while promoting her lead role in the legal drama “Goddess of Justice” in mainland China, she shared her willingness to wait in line like an ordinary diner for 30 minutes just to try the visually appealing curry udon, double-layered lava meat pie rice, and the signature teriyaki eel fish taco.

Following the news of her food poisoning, fans flooded the comment section with messages of concern and queries about what might have caused her illness, wishing her a speedy recovery.

Although the exact cause of her food poisoning was not disclosed, experts warn that certain high-risk foods can trigger severe gastrointestinal reactions like the one Tang experienced. Foods like raw fish, oysters, undercooked shellfish, and improperly stored cooked food leftovers are known to carry harmful bacteria and viruses that can lead to acute diarrhea. Reheating may not fully eliminate heat-resistant toxins produced by some bacteria.

Additionally, improperly cooked legumes such as green beans and kidney beans can produce severe vomiting and diarrhea if consumed without destroying their natural toxins and lectins during cooking. Consumption of toxic wild mushrooms or moldy grains can cause serious poisoning, posing a threat to the liver and kidneys.

The incident involving Sheren Tang serves as a reminder to be cautious about food safety and proper cooking practices to prevent foodborne illnesses. Fans continue to send well wishes for the actress’s swift recovery and hope to see her back to her healthy self soon.
