Hong Kong actress Linda Chung recently revealed her extraordinary experience of giving birth to her second and third children at home in Vancouver, Canada, during an interview program hosted by Wong Cho-lam called “Blue Friends, Travel Friends: Vancouver Edition.” She disclosed that her elder daughter witnessed the birth of her younger sibling.
At the age of 42, Linda Chung took a long break after giving birth to three children. After returning to the entertainment industry in 2024, she has held various commercial performances and even her own concert, maintaining her popularity. When invited to participate in Wong Cho-lam’s show recently, she shared her childbirth stories.
For her first child, Linda gave birth in a hospital without any complications. However, when she had her second child, Jared, in 2018, she chose to have a natural birth at home in Vancouver, even catching the baby herself. At that time, her young daughter Kelly was present and witnessed the entire birth process. Linda Chung stated, “Although the scene was bloody, I believe it is a very natural and wonderful life experience for my daughter to see the true nature of life.” She calmly expressed this sentiment, leaving Wong Cho-lam stunned.
Subsequently, in 2022, when Linda welcomed her third child, Anika, she again opted for a home birth and even tried water birth at home, which was smoother than the previous delivery, possibly due to her previous experience.
Although many netizens expressed incomprehension towards home births, Linda Chung admitted that the experience of giving birth at home held significant meaning for her. It allowed her to deeply appreciate the greatness and challenges her own mother faced in raising her and her siblings. Thus, when mentioning her mother, she choked up and shed tears on camera.
Linda Chung married Canadian spinal surgeon Jeremy in late 2015 and settled in Vancouver. In the program, she confessed that she is a “romantic brain,” saying she immediately told her close friend, Lee Yat-nam, after meeting Jeremy, “I found him, I really like him, from head to toe!”
Wong Cho-lam added that Linda Chung used to be very career-oriented but underwent a significant change after meeting Jeremy. She recalled Linda telling her, “Now, career isn’t important; the most important thing is family.”
Linda Chung’s last acting project was the Hong Kong drama “A Great Way to Care II” several years ago. Her natural and delicate acting in the series led many to speculate that she might win Best Actress that year. However, she ultimately lost out to Lin Xia-wei, who starred in “Seven Princesses.” Hence, to this day, people still lament that “TVB still owes Linda Chung a Best Actress award.”
