Tragic Landslide in Zijin County, Guizhou Province Leaves 6 Dead
On the afternoon of October 1st, a landslide occurred in Zijin County, Guizhou Province, resulting in the deaths of six individuals.
According to a report from CCTV News on October 3rd, journalists learned from the Zijin County government’s press office that on October 1st at 4:50 p.m., a landslide occurred in the Wanzitou area of Pingzhai community in Jinfeng Street, Zijin County. This incident led to the disappearance of a passing vehicle carrying five people and one pedestrian.
By 6:26 p.m. on October 2nd, the buried vehicle and missing individuals had all been located. Medical personnel on-site confirmed that all six missing individuals showed no signs of life and had unfortunately passed away.
On the same day, according to a report from Red Star News, a journalist contacted an internet user claiming to be a relative of one of the victims.
The internet user informed the journalist that his cousin and the cousin’s son both tragically lost their lives in the landslide accident on the afternoon of October 1st near the 8-kilometer mark in Zijin County. The two were together in a vehicle at the time of the incident. Currently, the bodies of his cousin and nephew are at the funeral home.
On October 3rd, a Red Star News journalist called Jinfeng Street in Zijin County. The operator mentioned that the location “8 kilometers” mentioned earlier falls within the jurisdiction of Jinfeng Street, where a landslide occurred on October 1st. As the road is currently closed, the specific details of casualties are not yet clear.
Also on the same day, a Red Star News journalist contacted the Zijin County government office for updates. The operator responded, saying, “Please pay attention to the official notifications” when inquiring about the situation.
