“Queen of Tears” ends with a happy ending, breaking the highest viewership record at 24.9%

On April 29, 2024, according to the viewership rating survey agency Nielsen Korea, the 16th episode of the popular Korean drama “Queen of Tears,” starring Kim Soo Hyun and Kim Ji Won, enjoyed a happy ending with the highest viewership rating at 24.9% on the evening of the 28th. The drama surpassed the viewership record of 21.68% set by Hyun Bin and Son Ye Jin’s drama “Crash Landing on You,” setting a new record for tvN television dramas.

In the final episode of “Queen of Tears,” based on Nielsen’s metropolitan family ratings, the average viewership was 28.4%, with a peak of 31%. Using the national family standard, the average viewership was 24.9%, reaching a peak of 27.3%. It became the champion in viewership for the same time slot across all channels, including terrestrial channels, and also broke its own highest viewership rating record.

In the last episode of “Queen of Tears,” during the process of searching for Hong Hae In (played by Kim Ji Won), Baek Hyun Yoo (played by Kim Soo Hyun) gets into a traffic accident. Despite the pain, he makes his way to Hong Hae In’s family villa. Coincidentally, Hong Hae In is also looking for a way to escape from Yoon In Sung (played by Park Sung Hoon). When Baek Hyun Yoo and Hong Hae In finally meet again, they tightly hold onto each other, trying to escape together.

Realizing that he can never have Hong Hae In no matter how hard he tries, Yoon In Sung eventually points a gun at her. Baek Hyun Yoo takes the bullet meant for Hong Hae In, and in the end, Yoon In Sung tragically ends his own life. Baek Hyun Yoo and Hong Hae In protect each other, have a child, and live happily together.

Meanwhile, the OST Part.12 “Proposal” sung by Kim Soo Hyun for “Queen of Tears” will be released today on major music streaming platforms. This is Kim Soo Hyun’s return to singing OSTs after a decade since his participation in the OST for the drama “My Love from the Star.”
