The upper reaches of the Yangtze River have been experiencing continuous heavy rain in recent days. According to the official Chinese media, the Yangtze River Basin entered a critical flood control period on July 16. How serious is the flood situation? Just remember that I mentioned in a previous report that the Three Gorges Dam had already opened four flood discharge outlets. According to CCTV reports, by the morning of the 15th, the Three Gorges Dam had opened nine outlets, with another one added in the afternoon, and by the 16th, it had opened eleven outlets. Let’s take a look at the scene when the dam was discharging from ten outlets.
Even more terrifying is a “positive” statement from CCTV: “The Yangtze River Commission coordinately adjusts the control reservoir group in the upper reaches, alleviating the flood control pressure in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River, preparing reservoirs for possible severe floods in the upper reaches during the flood season.”
Those in the know understand the two terrifying scenarios implied in this statement: “adjusts the control reservoir group in the upper reaches, alleviating the flood control pressure in the upper reaches of the Yangtze River,” means that many reservoirs in the upper reaches will also discharge water, but whether or not the affected people downstream are informed remains uncertain.
Some viewers may wonder why the Chinese Communist Party doesn’t inform local residents about flood discharge in various regions. The answer is simple: informing residents to evacuate due to flood discharge would require resources and compensation for the losses caused by flooding, which would be seen as official negligence. On the other hand, if no warning is given, damages and casualties can be attributed to natural disasters, absolving officials from responsibility, and allowing them to gain credit for disaster relief efforts.
According to reports from official Chinese media, China has entered the flood season. Floods have spread across nine provinces and seven major river basins in China. From July 13 to 14, 31 rivers in Anhui, Henan, Yunnan, Sichuan, Chongqing, Hubei, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Jilin, and other regions experienced floods exceeding the warning level. Now, the threat of flooding is not only felt by the affected areas but beyond, with a train traveling from Shenzhen to Changsha being forced to turn back.
Prior to the Third Plenum of the Chinese Communist Party, a post titled “A Major Collapse is Imminent!” circulated online, seemingly written by an insider.
The post stated: “Our country is undergoing the largest systemic collapse since 1949. This situation heralds the outbreak of even larger-scale political, economic, and maybe military turmoil in China, predicting that this country is about to plunge into significant unrest.”
This country is out of control, immersed in unprecedented absurdity, manifested in its fundamental governing logic: they lie while demanding trust, block paths while seeking ways to open them, impoverish the people while advocating for consumer promotion. This is the current state of affairs in various sectors.
In the future, China may face a series of more serious challenges. The political repression, ongoing economic downturn, and social discontent at all levels are accumulating, and once a breaking point is reached, these issues could erupt into a situation that is difficult to control.
