In the early hours of Sunday (September 27), a shooting incident occurred at a late-night strip club in Detroit, Michigan, USA, resulting in 3 deaths and 4 injuries. Police indicated that the incident was triggered by a dispute.
According to a report from the New York Post on Sunday, Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison disclosed details of the case at a press conference, stating that at around 7:21 a.m. that morning, the gunfire detection system alerted authorities, followed by receiving a call reporting the incident.
Officers arrived at the scene within 4 minutes and found 3 men shot dead. The identities of these men, all appearing to be around 30 years old, have yet to be confirmed. Attempts were made by bystanders to administer aid to them.
In addition, 4 injured individuals (2 men and 2 women) were transported to a local hospital by private vehicles, with none currently in life-threatening condition. One man and one woman are around 20 years old, while the other two are around 30 years old. It is possible that some of the injured have a familial relationship, although investigators have not confirmed this.
Bettison also revealed preliminary findings from the investigation: “There was an initial dispute that escalated into a conflict, resulting in these individuals choosing to use firearms to resolve the issue violently.”
He mentioned that the strip club in question is not unfamiliar to law enforcement, having received 7 calls to the address since the beginning of the year. It had also been under investigation before.
Describing the scene as a suspected late-night establishment where activities similar to those of a strip club were taking place, Bettison emphasized, “Regardless of what was happening at this specific location at the time, no one should lose their lives or be injured due to gun violence.”
Michigan State Police have also been dispatched to assist at the scene. Bettison stressed that the shooting incident does not pose a continued threat to the public.
Authorities have disclosed that no suspects have been arrested yet, but some leads have been identified, and they are receiving relevant tips.
Detroit Mayor Mary Sheffield made an appeal on Sunday for anyone with pertinent information to contact the authorities.
During the press conference, she stated, “This is heartbreaking, our community should not suffer from such acts of violence.”
