On June 10th, 2025 (Tuesday), the former head of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Team of China Southern Power Grid, Long Fei, was publicly sentenced in the first instance for accepting bribes. Long Fei was sentenced to 7 years in prison and fined 500,000 yuan. He was accused of accepting more than 6.13 million yuan in bribes.
The case was heard by the Intermediate People’s Court of Yantai, Shandong Province. According to the court, from 2000 to 2023, Long Fei took advantage of his positions as secretary of the general manager’s office of China Aerospace Electromechanical Group, deputy director and director of the office of China Aerospace Science and Industry Group, head of the Discipline Inspection Team of China Yangtze River Group, and head of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Team of China Southern Power Grid, providing assistance to relevant units and individuals in business operations and project contracting in exchange for illegal gains, totaling over 6.13 million yuan.
The court stated that Long Fei’s actions constituted the crime of accepting bribes with an especially large amount involved. However, considering his voluntary surrender, full recovery of the bribe money, and other circumstances, his punishment was mitigated, leading to the aforementioned judgment. It was officially disclosed for the first time that Long Fei voluntarily surrendered.
In February 2024, Long Fei was investigated during his tenure and subsequently expelled from the Communist Party of China and dismissed from public office in August of the same year. Official reports alleged that Long Fei misused large sums of money from his management and service targets, engaging in power-for-sex and money-for-sex exchanges. The first instance trial took place on March 21st of this year.
Public records indicate that Long Fei was born in August 1969 and started working in August 1992. He held various positions throughout his career, including roles at China Aerospace Industry General Corporation’s Fifth Research Institute 502, as secretary of the Communist Youth League Committee and concurrently director of the Youth Work Department of the Political Department, and as secretary in the general manager’s office of China Aerospace Electromechanical Group, among others.
In June 2014, Long Fei served as the head of the Discipline Inspection Team of China Three Gorges Group. In June 2020, he was transferred to the position of head of the Discipline Inspection and Supervision Team and member of the Party Committee of China Southern Power Grid, a position he held until being investigated.
