Celebrating Mother’s Day and Elderly Month at Renrui Center, Distributing Red Packets to 90-year-old Senior Citizens.

The Huace Huaru Senior Center held a Mother’s Day and Elderly Month celebration on May 9th, with a special arrangement for all those over 90 years old to receive big red envelopes. Lu Yan and Deng Bilian, both 98 years old, were crowned the oldest attendees of the day, and were treated to a special breakfast of sticky rice.

Director Wu Baoling of the senior center jokingly remarked that sticky rice symbolizes the close relationship between mothers and their children throughout life. She went on to say, fathers and gentlemen present should not be jealous, as mothers spend the most time caring for their children throughout their lives, often showing more concern than fathers. From the moment children are born, it is a mother’s duty to worry about every little detail, many working women today have taken on this responsibility. She specially congratulated the elderly who received red envelopes, wishing them a happy and sweet life, encouraging them to participate more in activities at the senior center and reconnect with old friends.

The celebration also featured a magician performing magic tricks and song and dance performances, with a special treat of a deluxe roast meat lunch and gift packages given out to the members, who were all delighted and beaming with smiles at the event.
