Four injured in a knife attack at a mall in Guangxi

On the evening of July 26, a knife attack occurred in a shopping mall in Yulin, Guangxi, resulting in at least 4 people being injured. According to the Yuzhou Public Security Bureau, around 10:17 pm that night, a knife attack took place inside the Nanxing Shopping Mall in Yuzhou District, Yulin City, causing injuries to 4 individuals, including children. The injured have been taken to the hospital for treatment and are not in life-threatening condition.

Video footage uploaded by eyewitnesses described the assailant going on a stabbing spree inside the mall, creating a gruesome and horrific scene. In the video, a child around five or six years old was seen with a large bloodstain on the back of their neck. A woman in the video urged for the child to be quickly taken to the hospital due to the significant amount of blood loss.

One internet user mentioned that their friend’s car was parked nearby, and upon returning, they discovered the car was splattered with blood. According to the report, the suspect is a 21-year-old man surnamed Lu, who was apprehended at the scene.

In recent months, China has experienced a number of knife attacks resulting in fatalities. Last month on the 6th, a knife attack in Yongshan County, Zhaotong City, Yunnan Province, led to the death of 3 individuals and injury to 1 person. On the 10th of the same month, four American university professors visiting China were stabbed in a park in Jilin. On the 25th of the month, a Japanese mother and son were attacked with a knife while on a school bus in Suzhou, Jiangsu Province. A Chinese female staff member on the bus was critically injured and later succumbed to her wounds.

Regarding the frequent occurrence of similar incidents in China, commentator Yue Shan told Dajiyuan that in recent years, there has been a significant amount of social hostility in China. Most of these perpetrators are not mentally ill but are a result of the society being under immense pressure, leading to the perpetration of violent acts. Under the authoritarian rule of the Chinese Communist Party, people are facing economic decline, unemployment, official oppression, social injustice, and conflicts with others without a proper outlet for venting their grievances.

“Even if you try to petition, you will be forcibly suppressed to maintain stability. Coupled with the long-term brainwashing by the Communist Party, many fail to see that the Party is the root cause of social injustice. They are afraid to speak out against the Party and instead target the vulnerable, leading to numerous acts of violence and harm.”
