On September 29, 2026, the Russian Emergency Rescue Department reported that a fireworks factory in Yaroslavl Oblast caught fire on Monday, September 28, resulting in the deaths of 13 people.
According to the Russian state media TASS, the blaze engulfed two buildings in the village of Kubrinsk near Pereslavl-Zalessky in Yaroslavl Oblast. Governor Mikhail Evrayev stated that approximately 100 emergency personnel have been deployed to extinguish the fire.
An official from the Emergency Rescue Department informed TASS that the death toll has risen to 13 people. Previous reports had indicated 10 fatalities. At the time of the incident, there were a total of 15 people in the factory.
Interfax reported that the Investigative Committee of the Yaroslavl Oblast in the Russian Federation has initiated an investigation into the incident, which is suspected to involve violations of industrial safety regulations at the hazardous production facility.
The Investigative Committee released a statement mentioning that the fire occurred in a workshop of a fireworks factory in Kubrinsk village where there were still employees present at the time of the blaze.
“The exact number of casualties is still being calculated,” the statement read.
Governor Evrayev expressed condolences to the families of the victims and pledged assistance for both the families of the deceased and the injured. He also noted that he is personally overseeing the matter.
