Driver in Baise, Guangxi injures 8 people in hit-and-run accident before falling into river

On October 17, a traffic accident occurred in Baise, Guangxi, injuring 8 people. The driver fled and plunged into the river.

According to the public security bureau of Tiandong County, Baise City, Guangxi Province, at 11:38 on October 17, a traffic accident occurred at the intersection of Youcheng Road and Dongheng Road in Tiandong County. Investigation revealed that the driver of the vehicle, Huang (35 years old, from Tiandong County), was driving a sedan when he collided with a vehicle on the left side of the road and fled to the Naheng Pier and fell into the river. “No one in the collided vehicle died, 8 people suffered minor injuries, and 7 electric bicycles and 1 sedan were damaged to varying degrees.”

The submerged vehicle and the driver are currently being salvaged.

Videos posted by eyewitnesses show a white sedan heavily damaged at the intersection, with several electric bicycles knocked over and multiple people sitting on the ground.

Local netizens revealed in comments on the video section that the driver, owing “online loans,” got divorced, drank heavily and drove drunk every day, and has been arrested. However, some netizens claim that the driver has already passed away. These details are yet to be officially confirmed.
