In the southern part of Nantucket Island, Massachusetts, a bizarre incident involving a seagull stealing a wallet has caught everyone’s attention. While seagulls stealing food is a common sight, this time it was a wallet that got snatched. The man who fell victim to this unusual theft is Noah Karberg, the manager at Nantucket Memorial Airport, who has taken to Facebook to offer a reward in hopes of retrieving his lost belongings.
According to a report by NBC Boston, the incident took place at a supermarket on Nantucket Island on August 4. Karberg, who had spent the whole day fishing, received a call from his wife asking him to stop by the Stop & Shop supermarket to pick up some groceries.
Karberg mentioned that since he was dressed in fishing attire with no pockets, he placed his phone and wallet in the tray on top of the shopping cart. After completing his shopping, he pushed the cart towards his truck. As he was loading the groceries into the back of his truck, a seagull perched on the cart brazenly snatched his wallet and flew away right in front of him!
Karberg managed to capture a photo of the seagull flying towards a nearby car wash roof, where it began inspecting the contents of the wallet.
He exclaimed, “I was like, ‘Oh my God, this is crazy, I need to get my wallet back.'” He then proceeded to chase the seagull around the parking lot in a frenzy. Despite knowing he must have looked foolish, he was determined to retrieve his wallet.
Subsequently, Karberg sought help by posting on a local Facebook group. He announced that anyone who found his wallet could keep all the cash inside. Additionally, he offered a $100 reward in the hopes of recovering his identification cards and other belongings from the stolen wallet.
Reflecting on the incident, Karberg chuckled and mentioned that many people empathized with him but found the situation quite humorous.
