Chinese Citizen in New Orleans Arrested, Charged with Possession of Child Pornography

In a statement released on December 12th by the office of Liz Murrill, Attorney General of Louisiana, it was announced that a Chinese citizen has been arrested in New Orleans on multiple charges related to child pornography.

The suspect, identified as Jiaxin Tian, aged 29, was apprehended at his residence in the Touro neighborhood on Coliseum Street. Authorities allege that Tian possessed and distributed child sexual abuse materials involving children under the age of 13, including images and videos of extremely young children being sexually exploited.

According to Murrill, the Louisiana Bureau of Investigation (LBI), the New Orleans Police Department, and several other local and federal agencies conducted a search of Tian’s residence.

It was revealed by Murrill that Tian is a Chinese national who has been residing in the United States on an academic visa since 2021. Following his arrest, he was taken to the Orleans Parish Prison for processing.

During the arrest operation and its aftermath, several anti-immigration activists reportedly confronted law enforcement officers near the scene.

Murrill disclosed that the protesters shouted at officers, honked car horns, and followed law enforcement vehicles to a nearby community as they left the area.

Murrill emphasized that the law enforcement officials were present in the area to apprehend a suspect accused of committing crimes against children and that they faced harassment while carrying out their duties.

She stated, “Our office will investigate any attempt to harm or obstruct our agents from carrying out the task of removing child sexual predators from the streets. Such behavior will not be tolerated.”

The investigation into this case is still ongoing at this time.
