Today’s focus: Renowned Hong Kong journalist and media personality, Mr. Cheng Xiang, stated that when Xi Jinping came to power, he lamented the disintegration of the Soviet Union and did not deny the Cultural Revolution. Mr. Cheng realized that Xi aimed to preserve the Chinese Communist Party and has now taken a further left turn, with the ideology reverting back to the Mao era. Since Xi came to power, there has been no room for reflection on the Cultural Revolution. Textbooks continue to be revised to gloss over the Cultural Revolution, with plans to legitimize the events of the 1967 riots in Hong Kong next year.
