Response to rumors of becoming a nun Mainland Chinese actress Xue Jia Ning: Just enjoys sitting quietly

48-year-old mainland Chinese actress Xue Jianing recently responded to rumors of her leaving the entertainment industry during a media interview. She stated, “I simply enjoy meditation and have a belief in Buddhism, but I have not left the industry.”

Xue Jianing previously shared a “meditation with hair” photo on Weibo on December 7, 2017. At that time, she was dressed in temple attire with her hands folded in prayer, wearing a smile on her face. In the caption, she expressed her thoughts, “There is less self-focus in my heart now, and I can accommodate more people’s happiness.”

Born in Harbin, Heilongjiang Province, Xue Jianing rose to fame in 2002 with her role as “Ha Mei” in the TV series “Pink Girl” (known as “Sour” in Taiwan). During her peak popularity, she met actor Hu Ge, a graduate of the Shanghai Theatre Academy, while filming the drama “Chinese Paladin” in 2004.

According to previous reports, Xue Jianing and Hu Ge dated briefly before Hu Ge was involved in a serious car accident during the filming of “The Legend of the Condor Heroes” in 2006. Xue Jianing took a year off from work to accompany Hu Ge through his lowest moments in the hospital. They parted ways in 2009.

During the peak of her career, Xue Jianing paused her routine life and began meditating with hair. In the recent interview, she talked about her current situation and the impact of self-media live-streaming on the identity of actors. Xue Jianing mentioned that current roles offered to her are mostly for motherly characters, but she is also involved in musical theater performances, with live-streaming as just part of her work. She admitted that although there is pressure and controversy, she is open to receiving criticism from the public.

According to a September 24 report by the mainland media outlet “Xiaoxiang Morning Post,” a netizen revealed flaws in the crystals purchased from Xue Jianing’s live-streaming, and questioned the delayed presale of “Nan Hong,” suspecting “hungry marketing.” The homepage indicated the price of white crystals at 2,888 yuan and Hetian jade at 19,900 yuan.

Before marrying his assistant Huang Xining, who is 11 years his junior, Hu Ge publicly expressed his regret for not being able to repay Xue Jianing. He said, “My greatest regret may never be remedied; I never had the opportunity to thank her in the media or in public.” There were rumors that Hu Ge’s mother disapproved of Xue Jianing being four years older than Hu Ge, leading to the end of their relationship.
