Taiwan Weekly Weather Forecast: Rain in all Taiwan on Lantern Festival

Taiwan’s Central Weather Bureau has issued a week-long weather forecast starting from 6 a.m. on the 10th to midnight on the 16th. On the Lantern Festival, which falls on the 12th, there will be showers in central and southeastern parts of Taiwan, while the northern, northeastern, and eastern regions will experience brief showers.

In the morning, the Central Weather Bureau issued a low-temperature special report for areas with a yellow warning, including Hsinchu County, Miaoli County, Changhua County, Nantou County, Yunlin County, Chiayi City, Chiayi County, and Tainan City. Due to radiative cooling effects, temperatures will be lower than usual in the early morning and late at night. On the 11th, there is a chance of temperatures dropping below 10 degrees in localized areas from Hsinchu to Tainan (yellow warning), so please take precautions.

The Central Weather Bureau also released an overview of the week’s weather forecast. The morning of the 10th will be influenced by a cold air mass, making the weather extremely cold across Taiwan. As the cold air mass weakens during the day, temperatures will gradually rise with significant day-to-night temperature fluctuations. The northern coast of Keelung and the eastern region will experience brief showers, while scattered brief showers are expected in Greater Taipei and the Hengchun Peninsula, with other areas ranging from cloudy to clear skies.

On the 11th, radiative cooling effects will persist, keeping the morning chilly, especially with large day-to-night temperature differences in the western region. Most areas will be sunny to partly cloudy, except for sporadic brief showers in the eastern region. As the southern cloud system moves north later in the day, cloud cover will increase with localized brief showers in the southern region.

Approaching frontal systems and the northward shift of the southern cloud system on the 12th, as well as the passage of a frontal system and strengthened northeasterly winds on the 13th, will bring cooler weather to the northern and northeastern regions, with other areas also experiencing cooler mornings and evenings. on the 12th and 13th, central and southeastern regions will see showers, with a likelihood of localized heavier rains, while the northern, northeastern, and eastern regions will experience brief showers.

On the 14th, northeasterly winds will weaken, maintaining cool weather in the north and northeast, with other areas remaining cool in the mornings and evenings. Moisture levels will be high, leading to scattered brief showers in the northern coast and eastern regions, with sporadic showers in other areas. As temperatures slightly rise on the 15th, the northern coast and eastern regions may experience brief showers, while the central mountainous regions will see scattered brief showers, with other areas remaining mostly cloudy. By the 16th, northeasterly winds will strengthen again, bringing cool temperatures to the north and northeast, with brief showers in the northern coast and eastern regions, and cloudy skies in other areas.

From the evening of the 10th to the daytime of the 11th, there may be low clouds or localized fog affecting visibility in Matsu and the areas between Taichung and Tainan. Caution is advised.
