A major incident occurred at the Chaozhou Central Hospital in Guangdong Province, where a large area of the ceiling collapsed suddenly, hitting multiple people on the spot. The incident resulted in 4 injuries, including one person with a broken leg and head injury. The injured individuals, along with another person who was hit by the falling debris, were admitted to the hospital for treatment.
On the afternoon of December 5th, a ceiling collapse incident took place at the new campus of Chaozhou Central Hospital in Guangdong. Several videos showing multiple citizens being hit and knocked down by the falling ceiling circulated widely on the internet in mainland China.
In front of the hospital pharmacy, a large area of the ceiling suddenly collapsed, catching several people off guard and causing them to be struck and knocked to the ground. Some of the individuals managed to get up on their own after falling.
After the ceiling collapse, a large hole appeared in the area.
That evening, Chaozhou Central Hospital issued a situation report, stating that at 3:28 PM on December 5th, the construction unit was performing maintenance on the new campus of the hospital. Due to unauthorized operation by workers and the absence of warning signs at the construction site, a section of the ceiling in front of the west pharmacy in the lobby of the outpatient building collapsed, hitting a group of people waiting to collect their medication, resulting in 4 injuries.
Among the injured, one person suffered a broken leg and head injury and was admitted to the hospital for treatment. The other three individuals sustained minor soft tissue abrasions, with one of them also requiring hospitalization for treatment.
