On the vast plains of Africa, the law of the jungle prevails, where only the strongest survive and even the obtained food may not be consumed. Recently, a dramatic scene unfolded in a wildlife reserve in South Africa where a cheetah snatched food from wild dogs, only to have it taken by a lion in the end.
According to a report from “Latest Sightings” website, the incident took place at the Manyeleti Game Reserve in South Africa. A wild dog caught a black impala, but the meal was later snatched by a cheetah. As the cheetah began to enjoy its meal, a male lion appeared out of nowhere and took the black impala away.
A tourist named Dean Robinson witnessed the entire incident. He missed capturing the part where the wild dog made the catch, but he managed to film everything that followed.
Wild dogs typically do not act alone, but the specific wild dog spotted by Robinson managed to catch the black impala on its own. This was noticed by a nearby cheetah. Knowing that the wild dog was alone and without companions, the cheetah easily took away its prey.
Just as the cheetah settled down to enjoy the feast, it heard heavy footsteps approaching from a distance. When it stopped eating and scanned the bushes, one could almost sense its disappointment. It turned out to be a well-known lion from the reserve making its way towards the scene.
Initially, the cheetah stood its ground and was reluctant to leave, but as the lion drew closer, it knew it had to try a different approach. With the black impala too heavy to move, the cheetah began to whimper.
However, it was not a menacing sound, but rather one of frustration. As the lion approached, the cheetah’s cries grew louder. Soon after, the lion’s behavior shifted. When it started trotting, the cheetah promptly abandoned the black impala and darted into the bushes for safety.
Subsequently, the lion carried off the black impala to enjoy it elsewhere.
