13-year-old girl in Zhejiang critically injured after being hit and scolded by gymnastics coach for money.

Recently, a parent of a 13-year-old gymnast at Zhejiang Sports Vocational and Technical College publicly reported that “her daughter had been subjected to physical abuse, verbal abuse, threats, and extortion by two coaches for a long time, and couldn’t bear it anymore, leading to her jumping from a building and sustaining serious injuries,” which has sparked wide attention.

The mother of Fu Jiali, a gymnast at Zhejiang Sports Vocational and Technical College, using the online alias “You Mi Ya Ya,” posted on social media that Fu Jiali was sent to study gymnastics at Hangzhou Chen Jinglun Sports School at the age of 4, entered Zhejiang Sports Vocational and Technical College for training at the age of 9, and won the provincial games championship in 2022.

According to her account, at the end of 2022, Fu Jiali joined the coaching team of Tang Yan, the head coach of the gymnastics team, and Shi Jia, the assistant coach. Since then, she has been subjected to physical punishment, verbal abuse, and threats by the two coaches, and has been extorted for money under various pretexts. The mother and daughter transferred more than 43,000 yuan in total. She also posted the transfer records.

Fu Jiali’s mother stated that on November 25, 2025, her daughter, unable to withstand the torture, jumped from the 4th floor, causing lung contusion, rib fractures, spleen bleeding, liver damage, and affecting her for life. The school concealed the truth after the incident and refused to provide surveillance videos from the training period.

On January 1st of this year, Fu Jiali’s mother informed Tang Yan about her daughter’s need for surgery, but was repeatedly evaded. On January 5th, when she went to the school to request surveillance footage, she was again denied.

On January 10th, the mother reported the case with Fu Jiali, and on January 12th, the school finally came forward, paying 5,000 yuan for living expenses, nutrition fees, and medical expenses totaling 80,990.99 yuan during hospitalization. On January 21st, Fu Jiali was transferred to receive rehabilitation treatment, with the college covering 20,000 yuan in medical expenses.

Fu Jiali’s mother raised three demands on social media: firstly, she hopes the media will expose the truth and push the school to immediately pay for the surgery; secondly, she requests the Zhejiang Sports Bureau and Education Department to investigate the coaches’ abusive and extortionate behavior, and revoke their qualifications; thirdly, she hopes for full disclosure of the surveillance footage to bring justice to her child.

The latest news from Zhejiang Sports Vocational and Technical College indicates that the two implicated coaches have been under investigation, and the college has suspended them from their positions.

Multiple media outlets in mainland China reported that officials from Zhejiang Sports Vocational and Technical College revealed that the school has investigated issues such as corporal punishment of students and receiving money from parents, leading to the dismissal of the coaches involved.

Zhejiang Sports Vocational and Technical College is a provincial full-time vocational institution supervised by the Provincial Sports Bureau and guided by the Provincial Education Department, with a focus on competitive sports specialties.
