Chemical factory explosion in Hejin City, Shanxi, causes severe deformation of steel structure building.

An explosion accident occurred at a chemical plant in Hejin City, Yuncheng, Shanxi Province around 2 p.m. on September 21, causing casualties. The explosion was powerful, causing severe deformation of a steel structure building and crushing nearby vehicles.

The Emergency Management Bureau of Hejin City stated to the mainland media “Dafeng News” at around 9 a.m. on September 22 that the accident yesterday resulted in one death and one injury, and the specific cause is still under investigation.

Due to the Chinese Communist Party’s habit of concealing information, the actual number of casualties is still unknown and requires further investigation.

A video recorded by local residents shows a one-story steel structure building severely deformed, with exterior walls twisted and leaning, debris scattered on the roadside, and multiple cars parked nearby crushed by collapsed building components.

According to reports from mainland media, on the morning of September 22, several surrounding businesses recalled that after the explosion, a large amount of dust rose into the air, and nearby buildings experienced noticeable shaking.

Chinese netizens commented, “We could see mushroom clouds right at our doorstep.” “Workers who work there said there were over ten explosions.” “Glass within two kilometers of residents’ homes was shattered.” “The surrounding glass all cracked, let’s see how many casualties there are.” “Were there only these two workers on-site at that time?”

It is reported that the involved company, Shanxi Haolun Chemical Co., Ltd., was established in 2017, mainly engaged in the manufacturing of chemical raw materials and chemical products.
