On the afternoon of July 5th, a passenger jumped onto the tracks as a train was approaching Hangzhou East Railway Station, resulting in a collision incident. According to reports from state media, at around 4:34 pm on July 5th, Train G7545 was entering Hangzhou East Station and approaching Platform 25 when a passenger suddenly jumped onto the tracks. The train initiated emergency braking procedures, but due to the short distance, it was unable to avoid colliding with the passenger. The passenger was subsequently taken to the hospital for treatment. Train G7545 was delayed for approximately 55 minutes and resumed operation at 5:19 pm. Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident.
This is not the first time a passenger has jumped onto the tracks at Hangzhou East Station. On March 30, 2024, according to the official Weibo account of Hangzhou Railway Station, around 10:24 am, a passenger jumped onto the tracks at Platform 15 of Hangzhou East Station and grazed the arriving Train G7796. The injured passenger was later taken to receive medical treatment. Reports indicate that the passenger suffered rib fractures, as well as varying degrees of injuries to the head, liver, spleen, and lungs, with a rapid heart rate and low blood pressure, resulting in a state of shock.
Another incident occurred on April 16th in Guangzhou, where a passenger jumped onto the tracks. According to a statement from the Shenzhen North Railway Station of the Guangzhou Railway Group, at 12:55 pm on that day, when Train G878 was entering Platform 6 at Humen Station, a 32-year-old male passenger (holding a ticket for the G878 train from Humen to Changsha South) suddenly jumped from the platform towards the approaching train. By the time medical personnel arrived at the scene, the passenger was confirmed to have no signs of life.
