Residents in a Shanghai community suffer from people throwing feces from high altitude

Shanghai residents in a community are deeply troubled by high-rise littering, always living in fear. The latest case involves a former community janitor who, in retaliation against the residents, engaged in “high-rise feces throwing”, forcing the downstairs residents to lodge complaints with multiple authorities.

According to urban field reports, on December 25th, Ms. Huang (alias), a resident of a community in Shanghai, revealed that after the community janitor was dismissed, she intentionally rented a top floor unit to retaliate against everyone by throwing objects from a height, including takeout, shoes, garbage…this time she even dropped feces! Ms. Huang has been plagued by high-rise littering for many years.

Ms. Huang commented, “This janitor’s hygiene was very poor, so she was dismissed by the chairman of our community property committee. How did she come to retaliate against us? She rented a unit on the 6th floor. Previously, she threw rice grains, takeout, plastic boxes, which also landed on our balcony.”

Ms. Huang suspects that this janitor, feeling aggrieved by her dismissal, chose to retaliate by throwing objects from a height. Regarding this incident of “high-rise feces throwing”, how did she know the precise time?

Ms. Huang said, “Last Friday night, I happened to be collecting the blankets at home. She should have thrown the feces down after it got dark. I only found out the next day (Saturday) at 4 o’clock in the afternoon. Because when I went to hang up the clothes, I noticed something was off. What she left on the glass was long and straight, not bird droppings, clearly human feces. This is not the first time, it’s happened multiple times.”

Ms. Huang stated that starting from four or five years ago, there has been continuous throwing of trash and miscellaneous items downwards. Other residents in the building have also raised concerns, and some have reported the situation to the neighborhood committee.

The staff of the neighborhood committee said that both residents and we feel that she is maliciously retaliating, but no evidence has been found from the beginning to the end. Notices prohibiting high-rise littering have also been posted downstairs. This unit was entrusted to her by a friend of a friend.

Regarding the recent incident of high-rise feces throwing reported by Ms. Huang, the personnel of the neighborhood committee said, “It seems that feces have been thrown down recently, and we also feel very indignant, it’s a bit too much. We immediately contacted the police and are in further communication.”

Ms. Huang and other residents have expressed that in recent years, they dare not easily open windows and are filled with fear when hanging clothes. They hope that relevant departments can quickly curb high-rise littering behaviors.
