After the conclusion of a meeting of the Chinese Communist Party (CCP) Politburo on September 21st, Zhang Yuxia and Liu Zhenli were expelled from the CCP and discharged from their military duties.
According to a report by the official CCP Xinhua News Agency, approved by the CCP Central Committee and the Central Military Commission, the Discipline Inspection Commission and Supervisory Commission of the Central Military Commission had initiated investigations into Zhang Yuxia, a member of the Politburo and Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission, and Liu Zhenli, a member of the Central Military Commission and former Chief of Staff of the Joint Staff Department of the Military Commission.
