The U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) announced on Wednesday, August 26, that it is recalling nearly 25,000 pounds of frozen Buffalo Chicken Rangoon and Benedetto’s Buffalo Chicken Mozzarella Sticks produced by the Shanghai Ravioli Corporation based in Boston.
These products were produced without inspection and distributed for sale in five states across the United States.
The recalled products include:
– Boxed packaging of Buffalo Chicken Rangoon, with 100 pieces per box;
– Boxed packaging of Benedetto’s Buffalo Chicken Mozzarella Sticks, with 120 pieces per box.
The production dates of these foods range from July 8, 2025, to June 29, 2026, with varying expiration dates between July 8, 2026, and June 29, 2027, clearly marked on the labels.
These frozen foods were distributed to food service locations in the states of Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.
FSIS is concerned that some of the recalled products may still be in refrigerators or freezers at food service establishments, therefore, they are urging these establishments that have purchased these products to stop serving them, dispose of them, or return them to the place of purchase.
FSIS stated that the inspection mark “EST. 18004” found on the products associated with this recall is fraudulent, as the manufacturer did not have the federal government’s inspection authorization. Foods produced without inspection may contain undeclared allergens, harmful bacteria, or other contaminants, posing a health and safety risk to consumers.
The issue was discovered during FSIS’ oversight activities.
As of now, there have been no reports of illnesses or injuries related to the consumption of these products. Consumers with any concerns about illnesses or injuries are advised to contact healthcare providers.
