Album Issues: Li Ronghao Calls Out a Mainland Platform for Poor Technology

On March 21, mainland Chinese singer Li Ronghao posted a message on Weibo questioning “NetEase Cloud Music,” criticizing the platform’s poor technology, sparking heated discussions. The topic quickly trended on social media.

According to reports from “Nine Beats News,” some netizens raised concerns on social media that the NFC (Near Field Communication) card of Li Ronghao’s new album redirected to another singer, Yan Renzhong’s album.

In response, Li Ronghao stated, “Previously, there were issues with typos on the new album. We strictly controlled and supervised the quality of the album, randomly checked ten copies before shipment to ensure there were no issues. But the NFC card link provided by ‘NetEase Cloud Music’ turned out to be wrong.”

“I would like to ask ‘NetEase Cloud Music,’ if you don’t have this technology, why would you do this? Without anyone understanding this technology, why proceed with it? Is this just a collaboration? Do you know the feeling of having to admit that this world is like a huge gang of people? Why hasn’t anyone from your big company checked the cards you produced?” Li Ronghao raised six questions, criticizing the poor technology of the platform.

Following this, the “Same Music” studio posted a message saying, “Thank you for the support for the physical album of ‘Dark Horse.’ We are currently waiting for the platform and technical department to resolve the technical issues with the NFC cards included with the album.” They assured that any updates on the solution would be promptly communicated to the public.

“Dark Horse” is a music album released by Li Ronghao in October 2024, where he served as the producer, with distribution by “Same Music.”

According to a report by “21st Century Economy,” personnel at NetEase involved in technical work revealed that the technical failures experienced by “NetEase Cloud Music” last year may be related to the Curve storage system developed by NetEase. The team had undergone layoffs during the development of this system.

The financial report released by “NetEase Cloud Music” in February of this year showed that the company’s revenue in 2024 reached 7.95 billion yuan, with adjusted net profit reaching 1.7 billion yuan.
